Dan's Den

Being Established in Christ

Dear Church Family and Friends,

We are prone to one deadly mistake at the beginning of a romantic relationship--we make it about us. To build a healthy relationship you need to work at really getting to know the other person. To miss judge them, to put them in a box, to not recognize their unique qualities, traits, and heart, is to miss an opportunity for true connection.

The same is true with Christ. We need to be established in a relationship with the real Jesus! Who is Jesus, really? The Colossian Church was being tempted by religious groups around them to think less of Jesus and to focus on a pathway to wisdom apart from him. The false teaching made Jesus less, angels more, religious rituals necessary, and a self-improvement approach supreme. It was a deadly distraction.

The real Jesus is the source and sustainer of all things--he is supreme over all. May this portion of Colossians (1:15-23) clearly acquaint you with the nature and heart of Jesus, and may you be established in Him for the life only God can give.

Love and prayers,
Pastor Dan
