Preparing for What's Coming
Dear Church Family and Friends,
Have you ever been "punched in the gut" physically or emotionally hard enough that you didn't know how to react other than to ask a question? "What was that for?" I got that once when I was running down a hillside in Arizona behind my brother when he turned around and stopped me in my tracks! Six feet ahead of us was a rattlesnake coiled up and ready to strike. He had just protected me from blundering ahead into imminent danger.
Jesus' response to the disciples commenting on the beauty and majesty of the temple complex was a "gut punch". They were blundering ahead with their heads in the clouds about the coming kingdom and Israel being made prominent again. Jesus stopped them in their tracks by the brutal reality of what was coming and how they should prepare for it.
Jesus clearly contradicts our expectations about the kingdom of God and of this world. In doing so, He is loving us and preparing us for what is coming. This Sunday be inspired to be in the best posture possible for what is coming by understanding clearly what Jesus taught about the destruction of Jerusalem, last things of the age, and His 2nd coming. May we be prepared for what is still to come.
Love and prayers,
Pastor Dan
